We're down to the wire! There are only 15 shopping days left until we close our doors and shift online.
We have amazing deals on everything. All jeans are $35. All boots are $40. All shoes are $25. All sandals are $15 Everything in the store is on sale, including the fixtures. We have shelves and mirrors, tables and racks that would be great in a commercial or home setting. Replace your mismatched hangers with a set of wooden ones. 10 for $5. We hope to see you in the store before we close. We will be open on a few evenings and we're open Sundays again. We've had people ask about points and coupons. This is a gentle reminder that when we close our doors and go online only, we can no longer accept physical gift cards, credit notes, or redeem points.
Gift cards and credit notes = a “currency” you should spend in store by the end of April. If you don’t want to shop before then, we CAN replace your gift card/credit note with an online dollar discount of the same amount. Points were a thank-you for being a regular shopper. These are something we offered to encourage people to return to the store but are NOT redeemable for cash or coupons. They’re like coffee cards. A reward for coming in. We are closing our doors because we cannot afford to operate an expensive brick and mortar store. The pandemic has hit us hard. Most items in the store are discounted below what they cost us to buy. We want to offer you a chance to buy things at a great price, redeem your points, and spend your gift cards. Please do this by the end of April. Thank you for your support. ![]() The worst part about closing the Drizzle & Shine physical location will be laying off my wonderful staff. I didn't make this decision lightly. And frankly, it wasn't really a choice. We just can't stay open and pay the expenses of a brick and mortar store with the drop in sales we've seen since the beginning of the pandemic. Going exclusively online doesn’t take the time and work that running a physical location requires. People are the best part of a store. But without customers to interact with, displays to set up, shelves of inventory to replenish, events and fundraisers to plan and run, there isn't enough work for any of us. I've had several terrific employees throughout the years, but Brit and Amity are exceptional. They have been with the store since the beginning--almost unheard of in retail, where turnover is high. Customers love them, they go above and beyond in their customer service and merchandising, and I can count on them to deliver, no matter what the job. Best of all, they are both long-time vegans and strong advocates for animals and humans. I'm happy they're more than employees. They are my friends. A blog post will never be enough. Come on by in the next couple of months and show them some love before we close the doors. Drizzle & Shine wouldn't be what it is without them. Drizzle & Shine is pivoting this spring. Our lease is up, and we'll be moving exclusively online for the foreseeable future.
We're big believers in making personal connections and making vegan and sustainable eco wares available for people to see, feel, and try on in person. When pandemic days are behind us, we'll be looking for a new store location. Until then, you can find info, updates, new items, and sales at www.drizzleandshine.com. We love the store on 15th Ave East and are so grateful for all the friendships we've made, and the in-person events, pop-ups, and fundraisers we've hosted. We hope to be back at it soon. We're not closing our doors yet though! To help make the move easier for us--so we have less to pack--we're having a moving sale. Everything in store is marked down to low prices -- including shoes! If you can’t make it in to shop, you can shop the online store for big discounts. Gift card holders and point collectors: Please use your gift cards and points by the end of April. Points will expire when we go exclusively online. Gift cards can be traded in person for online coupon codes. The cards don't work on the website. Thank you for five years in Capitol Hill. 2020 is winding down and I'm glad to see it go. I hope this year (and this holiday season) is one of a kind and never gets repeated. We've endured a three-month government-ordered shutdown, ramped up our online business, implemented pickup and delivery options and private shopping appointments, and are practicing social distancing, sanitizing, mask-wearing, and above all, patience!
We love fun and busy sales events but now is not the time. Instead of Black Friday madness, we're opting for slow sales. No rush. We're extending store hours so we can stave off crowds and keep shoppers to a minimum. Here's what's ahead: Online From now through Cyber Monday: 15% off online purchases (except masks and gift cards) - use code HOLIDAY20 From now through the rest of the year: Free shipping to US addresses on orders over $25 In-store From now through Nov 30th: 20% off all items (except masks and gift cards) and 30% off all shoes and boots From now through the rest of the year: Free shipping to US addresses on orders over $25 Whether you buy gifts online or in-person, we will mail them free within the US, as long as the total is $25 or more. Shop early! The post office is busy and we can't guarantee delivery times. Stay safe and shop small! It seems like every few days there are new rules and procedures for activities we've been doing on autopilot for years. Pumping gas, buying groceries, visiting friends--everything is different now.
We want you to enjoy a safe shopping experience on your terms so we've set up safety measures and lots of options to match your comfort level. Regular shopping hours When shopping in person, come to the store during our scheduled open hours (which we keep updated on our home page, front door, and facebook and Instagram pages). Please comply with the Washington State mandate and wear a face covering. And wait for another day if you feel sick, have a cough, or a fever. When you walk in to the store, please use the hand sanitizer we've provided inside the door. If you prefer to wear gloves, please put on a fresh pair when you come in so any surfaces you touch stay clean. If you want to shop the whole store you can browse around and have fun while keeping a 6-foot distance from staff and other shoppers. If you just want to buy face mask, hand sanitizer or other quick grab-n-go items, our staff will help you from our sanitized lobby. Or, if you are not comfortable shopping the whole store, we can help you from this area. Our sanitized lobby is an area of the store that we've blocked off. You'll see it as you walk in. It's a good place for us to help you shop from while keeping a 6-10 foot distance from you. We sanitize our front door handles between every shopper and we currently allow only 4 customers in the store at a time. If you arrive and we are at max capacity, we will let you know so you can wait outside. We're limiting shopping to 30 minutes so you won't have to wait long. If you want to try something on, you can! If you don’t buy it, we quarantine the item for a minimum of 24 hours before steam cleaning it and putting it back on the sales floor. We have contactless payment options. If you need anything else to feel comfortable shopping, do not hesitate to ask us! We want you to have fun and feel safe. Private shopping hours If you’d prefer to shop knowing you have the whole store to yourself, you can email us at hello@drizzleandshine.com to schedule a private shopping appointment before or after our regular hours. We can work out details to make sure you feel comfortable shopping. Please be on time, since we'll be coming in early (or staying late) just for you. You're a VIP! Online shopping hours Shop our ever-growing online store 24/7 at drizzleandshine.com. When you buy something online you can choose the shipping or pick-up options. We are currently offering free shipping on purchases over $25. For pick-up, plan to come to the store during our scheduled open hours. You can walk in and pick up your order or call us from outside and we can bring it to the front door for you. We have a passenger load zone right outside our front door and if you can pull up there we are happy to bring it to your car window. Most importantly! Have fun and enjoy your shopping experience! Our hope is that you've stayed well and are weathering these uncertain times. A special thanks to all of our loyal customers who have supported us by shopping online during the past few months. We've been closed since March 24th and it's been a challenge! The curbside pickup options have been nice. It's a treat to see people in person--something we've missed.
We're optimistic that the curve was flattened and police reform is happening. We support the Black Lives Matter movement and desperately want to see global changes. In the past, we've chosen NAACP, The Innocence Project, ACLU, and NW Immigrant Rights Projects as some of the nonprofits we support. When we open up in full swing, we will make BLM our nonprofit of the month. For now, government guidelines allow us to open with limited services and some changes. We are starting with 2 shoppers in at a time, and we are limiting shopping to 30 minutes. Please wear face protection and use the hand sanitizer at the door when you arrive. We have contactless payment and we ask that you stay 6' away from others. Not quite ready to shop in the store? No worries! We still have our lobby cordoned off so you can pick up orders or get some grab and go items (like masks, hand sanitizer, and lotion). Our online store is going strong, and we have free shipping for orders over $25. Our store hours are limited and growing week by week. Please check out our website home page for the latest hours. And feel free to email us for a private shopping appointment if you have a specific time in mind or prefer to shop alone. Shopping may seem frivolous, but getting back to normal is important for our wellbeing. We have summer items, work-at-home essentials, and chocolate bars if you need cheering up. We hope to see you soon! We're happy to announce that we are offering curbside pickup.
You can order online and choose to have us take your order to you on the sidewalk or in your car. You're also welcome, one at a time, to come into the lobby for pickups and grab-n-go items. We have a new selection of sanitizing spray, hand sanitizers, laundry soaps, and hand lotions, as well as a few other goodies for quick purchase. Unprecedented global events have impacted every one of us in ways we could never image. The staff at Drizzle & Shine are healthy during this hiatus, and we hope you are as well. We experienced slowing sales through out March 2020 and followed government guidelines to close on March 24th.
We are fortunate that a lot of our customers are still supporting us by visiting our online store (which is ever-growing, and has free shipping). Sadly, we didn't get a Seattle business grant, even though we qualified. Over 9000 businesses applied for a mere 250 coveted grants, which were handed out in a lottery. Our PPP loan didn't go through either before the $249 billion government stimulus money ran out. So we really are surviving because of our customers. Thank you! This week marks both Earth Day and the 7th anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse, where over 1,100 garment workers in Bangladesh lost their lives. So it's an important time to reflect on why Drizzle & Shine exists. We want to promote sustainable, ethical fashion that is kind to animals, earth, and people. It's easy to lose sight of that in trying times. We will get through this We miss you and the fun daily interactions we have with all of our like-minded customers. Please stay safe. Know that we are thinking of you, and that soon, we can pick up the pieces and meet again to chat about vegan fashion These are interesting times. We hope you're staying safe and healthy. That’s always top priority. I've made sure my staff is healthy and comfortable being at work and, with their blessing, we are open for business as usual. Common sense prevails. Wash your hands. Cover your coughs and sneezes. If you're sick, don't go out and shop.
That said, it's been a rough few weeks. Small businesses rely on daily customers. Winter is normally slow and we look forward to spring, when we stop operating in a deficit. So far this March, we've sold what we usually sell in a day. So I'm asking you to consider calling in and buying a gift card. They don't expire and we will give you an extra $10 gift certificate with every gift card purchase of $50 or more. We value our loyal customers. Thank you! Call us during business hours at 206-329-9274 and we can take a phone payment and mail you the card or hold it in the store for you. Monday to Friday 11-7 Saturday, 11-5 Sunday 12-5 |
